Torn (Trylle Trilogy, #2)

Author: Amanda Hocking
Category: Teen
Release Date: 2/28/2012
Rating:

When Wendy Everly first discovers the truth about herself—that she’s a changeling switched at birth—she knows her life will never be the same. Now she’s about to learn that there’s more to the story…
She shares a closer connection to her Vittra rivals than she ever imagined—and they’ll stop at nothing to lure her to their side. With the threat of war looming, her only hope of saving the Trylle is to marry a powerful royal. But that means walking away from Finn, her handsome bodyguard who’s strictly off limits…and Loki, a Vittra prince with whom she shares a growing attraction.
Torn between her heart and her people, between love and duty, Wendy must decide her fate. If she makes the wrong choice, she could lose everything, and everybody, she’s ever wanted…in both worlds.

When last we saw Wendy, she was tricking her friend Rhys into taking her back to her host family, brother Matt and Aunt Maggie. Book 2 picks up right where book 1 left off. Wendy and Rhys are trying to explain the situation to Matt without actually telling him anything. Before anyone knows it, the Vittra show up and kidnap all three and Wendy finds herself face to face with the devilishly handsome and oh so charming Loki, Marquis of the Vittra court. While in the Vittra compound, a few shocking secrets come to light and Wendy is once again faced with a hard choice. This is no longer the same kinds of selfish girl we met in Switched.
In this book, we get to watch Wendy mature into the princess everyone believed she could be all along. Her love life takes a few more exciting twists. She is beginning to understand her situation with Finn and learns that maybe she COULD love someone else if she would only allow it to happen. I honestly don't know where book 3, Ascend, is going to take us, but I am so excited to find out.
Side note, although all of these books have been previously published, reading the new ones is worth it. First, each book has an additional story in it. The first book took us into the Vittra compound where we met Loki for the first time. The second book shows us what a few other favorite characters were doing during Wendy's party. A friend of mine also mentioned that a little of the actual story material may have evolved a bit too. She wasn't positive, but she thinks there was a change or two made. Either way, this story is worth the read. It pulls you in so easily, and is gone before you know it. Happily, March is almost here with plenty of new titles to hold us over until April. :)
