Megan Rosenberg has never quite fit in, not that it ever really bothered her before. She never lived anywhere that just felt...right.... Until her dad got a mysterious job offer in Ireland. Megan's new school has some pretty strict rules, and one really weird (but gorgeous) boy named Adam DeRis who has a really unnerving habit of staring at her. Before Megan knows it, she is pulled into Adam's mysterious world, and begins to learn about her true self.
Was her mother's death really just an accident, and was her dad's new job really just a coincidence? Or was there something more powerful at play here? As Adam and Megan's love grows stronger, and outside forces begin to interfere, they learn that nothing is just chance, theirs is a story which was determined long ago. This is fate.
When I was younger, my mom was stationed on the island of Crete. I think that is when I gained my love of myths. The old stories, the traditions, everything about mythology has always enthralled me, so books where authors incorporate those stories bring me joy like no other. Leigh Fallon did not disappoint. The book seemed to start a little slow. Megan is a typical teenage girl, she worries about clothes, and hair and boys. She quickly makes a few new friends in her school and can't stop thinking about the resident heart throb/bad boy (against her will of course).
Adam DeRis is a character who is cloaked in mystery. Megan sees and feels things around him, she never would have imagined before, but this new experience comes with a price. Megan is involved now, she is a part of the great mystery ahead. I can't wait to read how the characters fair in the next novel. The Carrier of the Mark is a good book for those who enjoyed Abandon by Meg Cabot or Rick Riordan's Series.
